When a garage sale modem connects him to the underground world of BBSs, he discovers a digital community where he finally matters.
As “Cipher,” Tim builds The Private BBS into an elite hub of the warez scene, earning the respect of hackers and crackers twice his age. But the deeper he goes—trading pirated software, learning the secrets of operational security, falling for a mysterious girl named Raven—the more he has to lose.
When the FBI comes knocking, Tim must face the consequences of choices he made in the dark. Based on the author’s experience running a real BBS in 1990s Oklahoma, The Private BBS is a gripping coming-of-age thriller about identity, community, and the price of belonging.
